GUIDELINES

We want people to use the Explore Joplin platform to connect with local businesses, brands, and events that are committed to making the Joplin area a better place to live and visit.

For this reason, we created these community guidelines or guiding principles.

Our vision is to evolve the way people explore, discover and connect with local businesses, brands, and organizations so that our communities will grow stronger together.

Our values are made up of things we believe builds strong communities and promote growth. 

One community.

We believe that there is no competition.

Every business, brand, or event has its own unique characteristics that make it different or unique.

The goal with this platform is to spotlight the value that each brings to the table and encourage collaboration between area businesses to help grow our communities in the Joplin area.

The Explore Joplin services will be available to all business, brand, and event types, small or large with an emphasis on building a stronger area culture and community.

Keeping our community safe.

We believe that a safe community will grow, collaborate and become stronger together.

For this, we remove content and/or disable accounts when users create listings that violate the following:

We do not allow: 

    • Listings, promotions, or events that are related to, associated with, or promoting the sales of organized crime, terrorism, hate groups, political groups, pornography, sexual services, legal or illegal drugs (excluding certified pharmacies) but including dispensaries, firearms (excluding certified resellers), or any other illegal or unsafe activity.
    • Businesses that promote products that are harmful to children by the FDA or not allowed to be digitally advertised by the FTC.
    • Gambling establishments or accounts promoting gambling must get our written permission before using any of our products.

Furthermore, we work with law enforcement when we believe there is a genuine risk of physical harm or direct threats to public safety.

Protecting information.

We believe in keeping your information private.

For this, we do not share or sell your information. 

By creating an account with Explore Joplin, you agree to use your authentic name and identity. 

You may not use any other’s information and identity including another business, brand, or event that you are not authorized to publish.

Protecting intellectual property.

Explore Joplin is a place to share your story and experiences with others.

For this,  you own all of the content and information you post, however, by uploading to Explore Joplin, it is implied consent to share your content in our marketing efforts to help us bring more community members to this platform. 

At any time, you can ask to opt-out of this.  We will never share your content in a way that would hurt your business or goals.

Before uploading, we ask that you respect copyrights, trademarks, and other legal rights.

Promoting meaningful culture, collaboration, and interactions.

We want to bring the community closer together by building a strong culture, encouraging collaboration, and meaningful relationships.

For this, we prioritize meaningful content that is built around purpose, local culture, intent, design and user experience over paid advertising. 

We reserve the right to remove content that is considered SPAM, click bait, bait and switch advertising. 

We may contact you before approving a paid advertisement, exclusive offer or promotion if we believe the design of your content does not add value to our audience.

Help us stay spam free by not contacting listings without a relevant reason.

Fundamental Equality.

We believe that every person, business, brand, event, or anything listed with Explore Joplin should have an equal opportunity when promoting their experience on this platform.

For this, we randomize all listings within pages on the platform and in the explore feature except when there is a paid promotion for the listing.  All listings have equal access to our online paid promotion program.

Respect others in the local community.

We want to cultivate positive interactions in a diverse community.

For this, we will remove comments, reviews and listings that use any form of profanity encourages violence, or attacks anyone or any entity based on race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious affirmation, disabilities, or diseases.

Harassment, hate speech, threats and profanity are not tolerated.

Example:  You can give a 1-star review to a business or listing and still be respectful.  When the review is accompanied by profanity or hate speech or telling individuals to not go to the listing location, these comments or reviews will be removed.

If you see anything that you believe violates our guidelines, please help us by located the report button on the listing page.

We will review each report one by one based on these guidelines.
